Metro Transit Program
Expanding Access to Clean, Reliable Transit for a Healthier Pomona
Pomona ACTS is increasing access to sustainable public transportation by providing free transit passes to thousands of Pomona residents each year. These passes are good forfree rides on Metro (including the new A Line train), Foothill Transit, and other regional transit systems (not Metrolink trains). This program supports cleaner air, reduced traffic, and better mobility for those who need it most—making it easier for our community to get where they need to go.
A More Equitable, Connected Pomona
Free Transit Pass Distribution
Approximately 37,000 free transit passes will be distributed annually, including:
Annual passes for K-12 students attending participating schools through Metro’s GoPass program
Monthly passes for qualified low-income and senior riders in the project area through Metro’s LIFE program
These passes reduce financial barriers to mobility, expand access to education and essential services, and promote cleaner travel options across Pomona.
Project Implementation & Oversight
The program is led in partnership with Metro, which will manage:
Project oversight and coordination
Grant reporting and invoicing
Program performance tracking
Community outreach and engagement will be led by Metro in collaboration with trusted local partners—Day One and Latino/a Roundtable (LRT)—under Pomona ACTS’ Community Engagement Plan (CEP). These groups will support bus pass distribution, raise awareness, and ensure the program reaches those who need it most.
